These Terms of Use govern your use of the Global Dementia Observatory Knowledge Exchange Platform (the platform). Please read them before proceeding. By using the platform, you agree to these Terms of use.
Disclaimers
The platform contains submissions from parties outside WHO that are free of charge. The views expressed in these submissions are solely the responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily represent the views of WHO. The designations employed and material contained on this platform do not imply the expression of any opinion whatsoever on the part of the WHO Secretariat concerning the legal status of any country, territory, city or area or of its authorities, or concerning the delimitation of its frontiers or boundaries.

The platform is a collaborative community-driven project. Unless provided otherwise, copyright of any material made available by the platform is held by WHO. Copyright for individual working documents and resources made available on the platform that are not from WHO rests with the original owner(s) who are responsible for that content. Access to information provided via the platform is subject to the specific license agreements of the individual contributors.
Information provided by the platform is made available for non-commercial use only.
The information presented in the platform is protected under the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literature and Artistic works, under other international conventions and under national laws on copyright and neighbouring rights. Extracts of the information in the website may be reviewed, reproduced or translated for research or private study, but not for sale or for use in conjunction with commercial purposes. Any use of information in the website should be accompanied by an acknowledgement of the relevant author citing the uniform resource locator (URL) of the web source. Privacy and information
Your privacy on the Internet is of utmost importance to WHO. This privacy statement describes WHO’s policy concerning the gathering and sharing of visitors’ information through the platform.
Public website usage
In general, you can browse the platform without telling us who you are or revealing any personal information about yourself. The only information we gather during general browsing is from standard server logs. These include your IP (Internet Protocol) address, domain name, browser type, operating system, and information such as the website that referred you to us, the files you download, the pages you visit, and the dates/times of those visits.
Security
We do not sell or share any personally identifiable information when using the Global Dementia Observatory Knowledge Exchange platform to any third party. Any information provided to WHO by users of the platform is held with the utmost care and security, and will not be used in ways other than as set forth in this privacy policy, or in any site-specific policies, or in ways to which you have explicitly consented. The World Health Organization employs a range of technologies and security measures to protect the information maintained on our systems from loss, misuse, unauthorized access or disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
All employees who have access to, and are associated with the processing of personal data, are obliged to respect the confidentiality of official business matters, including personal data.
The platform contains links to external sites. WHO is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such sites.
Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data that is stored on a visitor's hard drive while they are visiting this Web site. We may utilize a short-lived form of cookie when you visit this site. It is normally used to assign a unique identification to your computer and securely store information such as user IDs, passwords, preferences, and online profiles. It is stored on the hard drive of your computer. You can choose not to have cookies delivered by WHO sites by changing your browser settings. Collection of personally identifiable information
When you request membership within the system, we will ask for information that personally identifies you. This information will be provided to the system coordinators so they can create your account. Your personal details will be available in the contacts section of your profile. Your email address will be used as the primary channel for WHO to communicate alerts, news, discussions, new developments, and resources. At no time is communication within the system anonymous. All content created by an individual user is stored including comments and resource ratings. The World Health Organization does not use or redistribute this information in anyway.
What does WHO do with the information it collects?

Providing personal information is optional. If you choose not to provide personal information, you can still browse the public website but will not be able to leave comments, ratings and reviews.
Opting out and changing your information
At any time, you can cancel or modify your information by returning to your profile.
Legal matters
Any dispute relating to the interpretation or application of these Terms of Use or your use of the platform in any other respect shall, unless amicably settled, be subject to conciliation. In the event of failure of the latter, the dispute shall be settled by arbitration. The arbitration shall be conducted in accordance with the modalities to be agreed upon by the parties or, in the absence of agreement, in accordance with the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules. The parties shall accept the arbitral award as final.
Nothing in or relating to these Terms of Use or your use of the platform shall be construed as a waiver of any of the privileges and immunities enjoyed by WHO under national or international law and/or as submitting WHO to any national court jurisdiction.
