This brochure provides information about how to find an allied health professional with experience in dementia care, questions you can ask your GP to prompt an allied health referral, and some examples of how different types of allied health professionals can provide specialist support.
The goal of this brochure is to help people living with dementia to access allied health services. The key objectives to achieve this goal are:
1) Increase awareness of the role of allied health professionals in post-diagnosis dementia care
2) For people living with dementia, their supporters and other healthcare professionals, increase their understanding of dementia rehabilitation provided by allied health professionals, and the different forms it can take.

Example allied health professionals include physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech and language pathologists. Allied health professionals can help people living with dementia to maximise their mobility, participation in meaningful activities and maintenance of relationships. This is called dementia rehabilitation.
