Public Health InfoBase, Canadian Chronic Disease Surveillance System (CCDSS) Data Tool
The Canadian Chronic Disease Surveillance System is a collaborative network of provincial/territorial surveillance systems supported by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC). Each province/territory submits aggregate administrative data with which PHAC calculates the incidence, prevalence and all-cause mortality rates of dementia, displayed in graphs and downloadable data tables.
This resource is the most comprehensive data product on the national epidemiology of dementia in Canada. This tool aims to present historical data from fiscal year 2002/2003 up to the most recent year available in national surveillance data, collected through the Canadian Chronic Disease Surveillance System. As this tool is designed to be user friendly, a broad range of stakeholders – including policy-makers, researchers, health professionals, media, and the interested lay public – may refer to this platform to find estimates, visualize data trends, or look at differences and patterns by age, sex and geographical areas.
